Meet The Trainers

Meet Melissa Maher

Melissa is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Has an educational background in Kinesiology, specializes in Men and Women’s weight loss, Body sculpting, Children’s fitness programs and Prenatal-Postnatal training.

In 1993, Melissa first began teaching aerobics and steps classes. Her passion for helping others on a one-on-one basis became extremely apparent. Now, with over 15 years of experience, her journey and success as a trainer in health clubs throughout Southern California has lead her to sole owner and operator of the number one private, exclusive training studio in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, Perfection Fitness - founded in 2004.

Her passion for training does not stop with her clients, Melissa also conducts educational health and fitness workshops, is a motivational speaker for living healthy and designs corporate wellness programs. She volunteers for the American Red Cross, the Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of commerce, and several health and wellness organizations throughout the year. In early 2008, she began her own non-profit organization, Healthy School Bells. This program educates children, in a fun and exciting way, the importance of knowing and understanding basic Anatomy. The program also focuses on how to choose healthy snacks and make the most of outdoor play.

As a business owner, wife and mother, Melissa knows first hand how it feels to balance work, parenting, and taking time out for herself. Listening to her clients and getting them to focus only on themselves while training comes natural for Melissa to do. Her workouts are energetic, educational, nonstop moving and different every time, focusing on the total body and creating a positive feeling for her clients during every workout.

“Helping my clients make a physical transformation is awesome; however, the real change I look for is the new confidence and self esteem that transforms within them- that to me is priceless.”

Melissa’s Mission is to help make the city she lives and works in one of the healthiest cities to live in Southern California. Her unstoppable energy and self motivation to help people believe in themselves, and live a healthy life style goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Meet Delila

Delila Diaz is our newest member of the Perfection Fitness Team! She is certified as a Personal Trainer through AFAA which is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

Although she is new to Perfection Fitness, Delila brings over 6 years of experience from the fitness world! She is seen by her clients as an excellent resource in providing them nutritional guidance, fitness tips and safety. Her motivating Small-Group (semi-private) and One-On-One Personal Training sessions along with her Group Exercise classes are in high demand because of her high energy and enthusiastic approach to fitness. She takes the time to educate her clients on the extensive benefits of physical fitness and nutrition.

She also believes that every person can make a change in their life – a life for the better! Helping change lives is what she does best. While training her clients, one can hear Delila’s motivating voice tell her clients her favorite phrases, “FINISH STRONG” or “No Pain, No Gain”. The experience she’s acquired throughout the years has allowed her to design detailed exercise programs specific to each client’s fitness needs.

Delila’s very active lifestyle includes distance running, jogging at our local trails, hiking, cycling and rock climbing. Aside from her busy activities, she keeps busiest keeping up with her one year old!

When asked what keeps her so motivated and focused, she replies, “My goal is to share my knowledge with clients, motivate and touch their lives through exercise in a way that will last a lifetime”.

Meet Karen Thogmartin

Karen has focused on healthy living throughout her life. Her interest in Personal Training and desire to show others how to live healthy lives began in 2003 while training as a client at Perfection Fitness. In 2004, when Perfection Fitness Studio opened their doors, Karen saw the opportunity to begin her journey in becoming a personal trainer - She became the full-time studio manager of Perfection Fitness.

Her passion in learning put her in the forefront of the business by assisting the most qualified and experienced training team with their clients. For over four-years, she aided the team in exercise design, weight management programs, physical assessments and lifestyle programs.

Karen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, is certified in CPR from the American Red Cross and, in early 2009, received her Certification as a Personal Trainer through the American Fitness Professionals & Associates.

Karen specializes in weight loss training, as well as lifestyle and weight management coaching. Being a mother of two children herself, she desires to motivate kids to exercise regularly, which led her to create Perfection Fitness Kids Boot Camp in the summer of 2009. With the Camp being a huge success and the demand for it very strong, she’s expecting a big turnout every summer.

Karen’s Mission is to continue showing busy parents how to incorporate easy, healthy meals and to apply exercise into their daily lives. Karen trains full-time at the studio and truly looks forward to seeing every client walk through the door. Having her clients receive an energetic, safe and effective workout routine at every session is her ultimate goal.


Meet Jessica Rice

Jessica is certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Exercise Science from Azusa Pacific.

She is seen by her clients as an awesome resource for providing nutritional guidance and safe, effective workout routines in every session. Her training programs have helped a wide population of people, from overweight individuals to athletes, elderly clients and those want to strengthen/tone their bodies.

Jessica takes time to listen to her clients and most of all strives to encourage, support, and challenge them to feel strong and confident. She focuses on creating effective, challenging fitness programs that each client will truly enjoy. She believes that designing such training programs make fitness a permanent part of our lifestyle and motivate us to reach our fitness goals. Her motivating Small-Group and One on one personal training sessions are full of energy and will leave you thirsty for more!

With her years of experience, Jessica's goal is to share her knowledge, get results, and to make a difference in the lives of her clients through exercise!

Meet Sherwin Facun

Sherwin holds a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton. He is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and TRX certified trainer. Sherwin is very active in sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis and his two new interests cycling and snowboarding. His philosophy on training is that people need to learn how to use their bodies to improve their quality of life. “Sitting on a machine will not make someone more functional.” He also wants to educate women on using free weights and not be afraid of the male dominated weight room. “The amount of muscle we can build is finite and decreases as we age. Women need to take advantage of this and lift like a man”

He knows his philosophy on training people will help them look better, feel better, move better, and become stronger (without the bulk for women). Sherwin has worked with athletes, law enforcement officers, overweight individuals, spinal cord injuries, elderly clients, marathoners, and the recreational lifter. His programs are designed to help any population reach their goals safely and effectively with routines which are sure to keep the sessions fun and intense.

Meet Jason Tam

Jason began his career in fitness in 2004. He started as a trainer and worked his way up to a fitness manager teaching other trainers his philosophy in fitness. His non-stop drive and passion in training clients soon took over and joined The Perfection Fitness Team in 2011. "I love teaching and mentoring new trainers on how to become a well-rounded 'Fitness Professional'; however, my true passion has always been one-on-one training and helping client change their lives!"

Jason holds certifications with AFFA, IFPA, AAAI, and has specialty certifications in Battle Ropes, Kick Boxing, and Group Training. His mission is to continue to teach clients and instill in them the idea that they are never too old, too out of shape, or too busy to reach their fitness goals. "I pride myself in being a versatile trainer. My clientele base ranges from the retired 80-years young to 20-year old males lookin to put muscle".

With his extensive background in fitness, he is able to put together a personalized fitness program for anyone seeking help. He is often heard telling his clients his motto: "The only person stopping you from reaching your full potential is YOU!"

Meet Marissa Garavito

Marissa started training individuals in 2011. Her goal is to teach people ways to improve their quality of life. There is never a time that it "too late" or an obstacle that is "too difficult" if you are committed mentally. She is here to make your goals achievable. Marissa is certified through the Aerobics and Fitness Association along with 2 years of experience with NPC Bikini Fitness Competitions. Not only does Marissa train in the studio she also goes to different sports programs to guest coach. Her All Star Cheerleading background has helped her design conditioning programs for young athletes.

She is also very active with fundraising for different organizations including: Autism Speaks, American Cancer Society, Making Strides and Voices of MBC. Bringing awareness by being a small voice for those who are affected by different life circumstances.Marissa is well rounded and has a client base ranging from 8 to 60 years old. Her main goal is design a program fitted for YOU!

Meet Stefanie Pace

B.S Kinesiology - Exercise science
CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach

Stefanie is a certified personal trainer through American Counsel of Exercise (ACE), holds a Bachelor’s of Science in kinesiology- exercise science, and is certified as a CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach (level 1). She has 3 years of experience and specializes in men and women's weight loss, nutrition, athletic strength/conditioning, and lifestyle coaching with clients ranging from children to seniors.

Stefanie's one-on-one training programs are designed based on each client’s unique goals. She approaches each training opportunity with the understanding that no one person is the same and training programs should not be a one size fits all approach. Stefanie believes in building from the ground up by focusing on posture, form, technique, flexibility and strength; all of those factors are key to building a healthier and stronger body. She sees a tremendous amount of potential in every person that walks through the doors of the Perfection Fitness studio. Her mission is to help those people fulfill their potential as they conquer their goals. Her philosophy is to never look back and say "I used to" or "you should've seen me then", because we all have to accept where we are now and focus forward on what it’s going to take to reach our goals. It is never too late to get into motion, take control, be confident and most of all, be happy with yourself! Self-efficacy is key!

Stefanie loves to cook and to provide her clients with nutritional guidance, meal prepping tips and healthy recipes to try. She played softball as a student-athlete in college, and continues an active lifestyle today. She was a conditioning coach for travel softball teams for 2 years, working with young athletes between the ages of 8 and 18. Now she enjoys competing in 5k's, 10k's, sprint triathlons and hikes/backpacks as her weekend hobbies.
